چکیده

Abstract The study has aimed to investigate and determine the anatomical position, shape, size, histological features of ductus venosus, its role as a shunt in fetal circulatory system domestic ruminants. research was conducted on 19 bovine, 11 sheep 5 goat fetuses, aborted at late stage pregnancy or deceased just after delivery. general anatomy venosus investigated by in-situ dissection corrosive cast obtained injection 25% solution Vinylite mass through umbilical vein. For examination, tissue samples were stained with Hematoxylin Eosin, Masson’s trichrome, Verhoeff-Van Gieson Gomoriꞌs silver stain. results showed that ruminant is curved, trumpet-shaped vessel, situated central part liver, above porta hepatis. Its ventral constricted form an isthmus, having prominent lip-like thickening junction portal sinus. Histological examination dominant presence collagen elastic fibers tunica media, thin bands smooth muscle oriented longitudinal circular direction indicating ability for vasoconstriction vasodilatation.

Dilatation of the ductus venosus in human fetuses: ultrasonographic evidence and mathematical modeling.

Autonomic regulation of blood flow through the fetal ductus venosus has been suggested, but the existence of a sphincter at the ductal entrance in human fetuses has yet to be established. In this paper two cases of apparent ductus venosus dilatation in two growth-restricted human fetuses are reported. Prolonged ultrasonographic analysis (45 min) showed rapid and substantial changes (>80%) of du...

Ductus venosus flow and myocardial hypertrophy in fetuses of diabetic mothers.

OBJECTIVE To test the hypothesis that the pulsatility index of ductus venosus (PIDV) is greater in the fetuses of diabetic mothers (FDM) with myocardial hypertrophy (MH) than in the FDM with no MH and in the control fetuses of nondiabetic mothers (FNDM). Comparing the results with mitral and tricuspid diastolic peak flows. METHODS The cross-sectional study included fetuses with gestational ag...

Monitoring of fetuses with intrauterine growth restriction: longitudinal changes in ductus venosus and aortic isthmus flow.

OBJECTIVES To explore in growth-restricted fetuses the sequence of changes in aortic isthmus and ductus venosus blood flow in relation to other arterial Doppler parameters commonly used to evaluate fetal wellbeing. METHODS Umbilical and middle cerebral arteries, ductus venosus and aortic isthmus were explored serially by means of pulsed Doppler in a cohort of singleton small-for-gestational a...

Structural evidence for mechanisms to redistribute hepatic and ductus venosus blood flows in nonhuman primate fetuses.

OBJECTIVE The ductus venosus (DV) and the intrahepatic branches of the portal vein (BPV) play an important role in umbilical blood distribution to the fetal liver and the rest of the fetal circulation. Increased DV shunting is a major fetal survival mechanism during stress situations. The availability of a nonpregnant primate animal model with similar structure and function would greatly improv...

The ductus venosus and intrahepatic venous system in Callithrix jacchus jacchus and Macaca fascicularis fetuses.

BACKGROUND The ductus venosus (DV) and the intrahepatic branches of the portal vein are arranged as parallel vessels. Blood shunting through the DV ensures fetal survival during periods of stress. The availability of a suitable animal model with similar structure and function to the human fetus would greatly improve the understanding of DV function. The anatomical and histological structure of ...
